Situated in the heart of the Waterburg and about 2.5 hours from Johannesburg,  Marakele National Park is probably one park I will carry on visiting. Not that it has a lot of wildlife, but rather that the wildlife comes to you when camping at Bontle Camp Site.

Mapungubwe National Park is not exactly a place you decide to go too on a hunch, unless you are my wife and I, situated on the northern tip of South Africa, bordering both Botswana and Zimbabwe, it is a solid 6 hour trip from Johannesburg. We spend most of the morning around the Highveld part of the canyon, the 3 Roundavels came first then moved on to the Lowveld View point to continue onto Wonder view and Gods Window. At lunch, we ate a the reputed Harry’s Pancake where I had a delicious and filling beef mince and cheese pancake, I would recommend it to anyone, if only for the greeting and service.

Planed Visits: Long Tom Pass, Mac Mac Waterfall, Graskop Pancakes, Berlin and Lisbon Falls, The Pinnacle, Wonder view, God’s Window, Burke’s Luck Potholes, 3 Roundavels.

Well it’s going to be short… Rained out most of the way, Mac Mac falls is closed for renovations, I barely made the closing time for the Pinnacle at sunset, never mind the rest.
